    Both Kamala's parents were immigrants and scholars. Her mother, Shyamala Harris, was born in India, held a PhD from Berkeley University, and was a breast cancer researcher. Donald Harris, Kamala's father, was a Stanford University economics professor and was born in Jamaica.

Where Did ‘Momala’ Come From?
